In your heart and soul

you love to sing

but…

Do you often wonder how to make your breath and song more harmonious and beautiful?

Often when you open your mouth, your voice doesn’t seem to express who you truly are. It may or may not be enjoyable, but deep inside, you sense there’s something more—a greater beauty waiting to emerge. Your voice may feel too soft or too loud, tight or breathy, and you’re unsure how to make it reflect your full, authentic self. You long for your voice to sound as you imagine it—free, natural, and effortless.

Every human being has a singing voice. Our work is to unveil, take away the hindrances, and free the voice.

close your eyes and

Imagine…

…your supple voice.

You notice your singing voice is clear and pure, flowing effortlessly, with each tone resonating with warmth and richness. There is no strain, only ease, as your sound fills the room with vibrant light and joyful energy. Your voice feels deeply connected to your heart, expressing your true self freely. A gentle warmth radiates from your chest, filling you with peace and joy. Your supple voice is more than sound—it’s the true expression of your deepest self, a reflection of your wisdom, freedom, and joy.

A supple voice is
powerful, strong, vibrant, lively, awake, relaxed, and free.

It lives between a supple body and a supple soul. It requires a supple breath and inspires a supple smile.

  • A SUPPLE BODY
sustains strength and alignment. It exudes a sense of lightness, relaxation and poise without any fear of collapsing or need for rigidity.

  • A SUPPLE BREATH
is the breath of life. It flows and connects each tone in an elegant stream that enlivens the voice, the body, and the soul.

  • A SUPPLE SOUL
is the inner space where the spirit of the self sings. A supple soul embraces the journey of life with trust, flexibility, and an authentic joy, moving through the world with a quiet but powerful presence that invites connection, healing, and freedom.

  • A SUPPLE SMILE
expresses the love that lives in your heart, in your listener, in the cosmos. It’s a place where all is well, and you feel safe, calm, awake, and nourished. Doubt disappears, and trust is built. It’s knowing.

Your supple voice is already living in you.

Through gentle, soul-centered vocal practices, A Supple Voice Singing School will guide you to trust the form and flow of your voice and the freedom of your spirit.

Your guide to A Supple Voice.

My name is Shannon Boyce, and whether you’ve been singing your whole life or are just beginning your journey, I invite you to discover the transformative power of your voice. As a singer and teacher for over 25 years, I have dedicated my life to uncovering the mysteries of the voice, not just as a tool for singing, but as a gateway to personal growth and healing.

My journey began with a deep love for singing, shaped by formal training at Samford University and The Manhattan School of Music. After completing my formal education, I performed with renowned companies such as Des Moines Metro Opera and New York City Opera. Yet, despite all my technical training, I felt something was missing. My teacher would often say, “You have to get out of the way of yourself,” and I didn’t yet understand the spiritual process this required.

Everything changed when I discovered Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström's School of Uncovering the Voice, which introduced me to the idea that the voice is already perfect—it simply needs to be revealed by removing the hindrances. This understanding, inspired by Werbeck and Rudolf Steiner, became the foundation of my teaching practice.

For 10 years, I studied Werbeck’s work with Christiaan Boele as my teacher, diving deep into the spiritual and technical nuances of this approach. This period of learning not only helped me develop A Supple Voice but also inspired a profound evolution in my teaching. I also completed four years of pedagogical study with Christiaan and hold a teaching certificate from The School of Uncovering the Voice.

My ongoing study of kinesthetic voice pedagogy, in connection with acoustic voice science, explores how understanding the acoustics leads to a kinesthetic experience of the voice. This research brings fresh insights and a deeper understanding of Werbeck’s teachings, allowing me to introduce new language and clarity around the intuitive experiences she described. My work lies at the intersection of spiritual science and voice science, motivating acoustic efficiency while honoring the spiritual dimensions of tone.

In addition to Werbeck’s work, I study Bel Canto (Italian School of Singing), neuroscience, somatic practices, the Alexander Technique, and acoustic voice science. My ongoing research in these areas enriches my spiritual exploration of tone, motivating me to stay fresh and inspired as a teacher.

Having faced my own challenges, from dyslexia to being taught by teachers who traumatized me, I bring deep empathy and patience to my work. I listen with my heart and use intuition to guide each student based on their individual needs. My goal is not just to teach people to sing, but to help them trust their voice—and, in doing so, trust themselves.

At A Supple Voice Singing School, I teach students of all ages, each on their own unique journey to discovering their authentic voice. Whether you're looking to sing with more confidence, connect more deeply with yourself, or explore the healing power of your voice, I'm here to guide you every step of the way.
